QuizTime(51): Which prophet asked Allah to appoint his brother to help him in his mission ?

QuizTime(51): Which prophet asked Allah to appoint his brother to help him in his mission ?

Ans: Prophet Musa(pbuh).

Allah says in the Qur'an:

prophet Musa requested "And appoint for me a helper from my family,''. "Harun, my brother.'' And let him share my task,''[Al-Qur'an ch 20 Verse 29-31]

This was also a request from Musa concerning something not pertaining to himself. That was his request for the assistance of his brother, Harun. Ath-Thawri reported from Abu Sa`id, from `Ikrimah, who said that Ibn `Abbas said, "Harun was made a Prophet at the same moment that Musa was made a Prophet.'' Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that `A'ishah went out intending to perform `Umrah and stopped to camp among some bedouins.

While she was among them she heard a man say, "Which brother in this life was the most beneficial to his brother'' The people said, "We do not know.'' The man said, "By Allah, I know.'' `A'ishah said, "I said to myself about his swearing, that he should not swear such an oath, singling himself out as knowing what person was of most benefit to his brother.'' The man said, "It is Musa, when he asked for prophethood to be bestowed upon his brother.'' Then `A'ishah said, "By Allah, he has spoken truthfully.''

QuizTime(50): Which is the first masjid built by Rasulullah (SAW)?

QuizTime(50): Which is the first masjid built by Rasulullah (SAW)?

Ans: Masjid-e-Quba.

The first mosque that was built by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was the mosque of Quba’ in Madeenah al-Munawwarah.

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Zaad al-Ma’aad (3/58), when describing the arrival of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in Madeenah:

The Muslims said takbeer, rejoicing at his arrival, and they went out to meet him… He continued until he stopped in Quba’, among Banu ‘Amr ibn ‘Awf, and he stayed among them for fourteen days, and founded the mosque of Quba’, which is the first mosque to be established after the beginning of his Prophethood. End quote.

There are ahaadeeth from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) which speak of the virtue of praying in the mosque of Quba’:

Al-Bukhaari (1193) and Muslim (1399) narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to go to the mosque of Quba’ every Saturday, walking or riding.

According to a report narrated by Muslim: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to go to the mosque of Quba’ walking or riding, and he would pray two rak’ahs there.

Al-Tirmidhi (324) narrated from Usayd ibn Zuhayr al-Ansaari, who was one of the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Prayer in the mosque of Quba’ is like ‘Umrah.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.

Al-Nasaa’i (699) narrated that Sahl ibn Hunayf said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever goes out to this mosque, the mosque of Quba’, and prays therein, will have (a reward) like that of ‘umrah.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Nasaa’i.

QuizTime(48): How many Ayahs of prostration are there in the Qur'an?

QuizTime(48): How many Ayahs of prostration are there in the Qur'an?

Ans :15.

The fifteen aayat are (interpretation of the meanings):

1 - Surely those who are with your Lord (angels) are never too proud to perform acts of worship to Him, but they glorify His Praise and prostrate before Him.

[al-Araaf 7:206]

2 - And unto Allaah (Alone) falls in prostration whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and so do their shadows in the mornings and in the afternoons.

[al-Rad 13:15]

3 And to Allaah prostrate all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, of the live moving creatures and the angels, and they are not proud [i.e., they worship their Lord (Allaah) with humility].

[al-Nahl 16:49]

4 Say (O Muhammad): Believe in it (the Quraan) or do not believe (in it). Verily! Those who were given knowledge before it, when it is recited to them, fall down on their faces in humble prostration.

[al-Isra 17:107]

5 When the Verses of the Most Beneficent (Allaah) were recited unto them, they fell down prostrating and weeping.

[Maryam 19:58]

6 See you not that to Allaah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and the mountains, and the trees, and al-dawaab (moving living creatures, beasts, etc.), and many of mankind? But there are many (men) on whom the punishment is justified. And whomsoever Allaah disgraces, none can honour him. Verily! Allaah does what He wills.

[al-Hajj 22:18]

7 O you who believe! Bow down, and prostrate yourselves, and worship your Lord and do good that you may be successful.

[al-Hajj 22:77][Here prostration done by Sahabas but there is no Sahi Hadith mentioned about Prophet did]

8 And when it is said to them: Prostrate to the Most Beneficent (Allaah)! They say, And what is the Most Beneficent? Shall we fall down in prostration to that which you (O Muhammad) command us? And it increases in them only aversion.

[al-Furqaan 25:60]

9 [As Shaytaan has barred them from Allaahs Way] so that they do not worship (prostrate before) Allaah, Who brings to light what is hidden in the heavens and the earth, and knows what you conceal and what you reveal.

[al-Naml 27:25]

10 Only those believe in Our aayaat (verses, signs, etc.) who, when they are reminded of them fall down prostrate, and glorify the Praises of their Lord, and they are not proud.

[al-Sajdah 32:15]

11 And Dawood guessed that We had tried him and he sought forgiveness of his Lord, and he fell down prostrate and turned (to Allaah) in repentance.

[Saad 38:24]

12 And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Prostrate not to the sun nor to the moon, but prostrate to Him Who created them, if you (really) worship Him.

[Fussilat 41:37]

13 So fall down in prostration to Allaah, and worship Him (Alone).

[al-Najm 53:62]

14 And when the Quraan is recited to them, they fall not prostrate.

[al-Inshiqaaq 84:21]

15 Fall prostrate and draw near to Allaah!

[al-Alaq 96:19]

Al-Albaani said, in Tamaam al-Minnah (296):

Those who said 15 and 14 Well Done. May Allah bless you all Ameen.

QuizTime(46): What was the first qibla and the third holiest Masjid of Islam?

QuizTime(46): What was the first qibla and the third holiest Masjid of Islam?

Ans: Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem)/Al-Masjid Al-Aqsaa (in Jerusalem)

-It (al-Quds) was the first qiblah of the Muslims, as was reported by al-Baraa’ (may Allaah be pleased with him): the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) prayed in the direction of Bayt al-Maqdis for sixteen or seventeen months. (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 41 – this version was narrated by him – and by Muslim, 525).

Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No journey should be made except to three mosques, al-Masjid al-Haraam, Masjid al-Rasool (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and Masjid al-Aqsaa.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1132. Also narrated by Muslim, 827, from the hadeeth of Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri, with the words, “Do not travel except to…”).

-In al-Quds there is al-Masjid al-Aqsaa, and one prayer there is equivalent to two hundred and fifty prayers elsewhere.

It was reported that Abu Dharr (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: we were discussing, in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), which of them was more virtuous, the mosque of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) or Bayt al-Maqdis. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: One prayer in my mosque is better than four prayers there, but it is still a good place of prayer. Soon there will come a time when if a man has a spot of land as big as his horse’s rope from which he can see Bayt al-Maqdis, that will be better for him than the whole world. (Narrated and classed as saheeh by al-Haakim, 4/509. Al-Dhahabi and al-Albaani agreed with him, as stated in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, at the end of the discussion of hadeeth no. 2902).

One prayer in al-Masjid al-Nabawi is equivalent to one thousand prayers elsewhere, so one prayer in al-Masjid al-Aqsaa is equivalent to two hundred and fifty prayers elsewhere. End.

QuizTime (45): Who was that Sahabi, from Magian became Christian and then became slave of two Jewish people & became Muslim?

QuizTime (45): Who was that Sahabi, from Magian became Christian and then became slave of two Jewish people & became Muslim?

Ans: Salmaan al-Faarisi (may Allaah be pleased with him).

The great Sahaabi Salmaan al-Faarisi (may Allaah be pleased with him) came to Islam.  He was a Magian (Zoroastrian), then he became a Christian, then he became a Muslim.

It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Abbaas said: Salmaan al-Faarisi told me his story from his own lips. He said:

I was a Persian man, one of the people of Isbahaan, from a village thereof called Jayy…

… When I reached Syria, I said: Who is the best person in this religion? They said: The bishop in the church.  So I went to him and said: I like this religion, and I would like to stay with you and serve you in your church and learn from you and pray with you. He said: Come in. So I went in with him, but he was a bad man. He would command them and exhort them to give charity, but he kept a great deal of it for himself and did not give it to the poor; he had amassed seven chests of gold and silver. I hated him deeply when I saw what he was doing, then he died and the Christians gathered to bury him. I said to them: This was a bad man; he commanded you and exhorted you to give charity, but when you brought it to him he kept it for himself and did not give any of it to the poor.

They said: How do you know that? Show us where his treasure is. So I showed them where it was and they brought out seven chests filled with gold and silver. When they saw that they said: By Allaah, we will never bury him; then they crucified him and pelted him with stones.  Then they brought another man and appointed him in his place. Salmaan said: I have never seen a man who does not offer the five daily prayers who was better than him; he shunned this world and sought the Hereafter and no one strive harder than him night and day. I loved him as I had never loved anyone before, and I stayed with him for a while. Then when he was about to die, I said: O So and so, I was with you and I loved you as I had never loved anyone before, and now the decree of Allaah has come to you as you see; to whom do you advise me to go?

What do you command me to do? He said: O my son, by Allaah, I do not know of anyone today who follows what I followed. The people are doomed; they have changed and abandoned most of what they used to follow, except for a man in Mosul. He is So and so, and he follows what I used to follow, so go and join him. When he died and was buried, I went to the man in Mosul. I said to him: O So and so, So and so advised me when he died to come to you, and he told me that you follow the same as he followed. He said to me: Stay with me. So I stayed with him, and I found him to be a good man who followed the same as his companion had followed. But soon he died. When he was dying I said to him: O So and so, So and so advised me to come to you and told me to join you, but now there has come to you from Allaah what you see. To whom do you advise me to go? What do you command me to do? He said: O my son, by Allaah I do not know of anyone who follows what we used to follow except a man in Nasayyibeen.

He is So and so; go to him. When he died and was buried, I went to the man in Nasayyibeen. I came to him and told him my story and what my companion had told me to do. He said: Stay with me. So I stayed with him and I found him to be a follower of the same way as his two companions, and I stayed with a good man. By Allaah, soon death came upon him, and when he was dying I said to him: O So and so, So and so advised me to go to So and so; then So and so advised me to come to you. To whom do you advise me to go and what do you command me to do? He said: O my son, by Allaah we do not know of anyone left who follows our way and to whom I can tell you to go, except a man in ‘Ammooriyyah. He follows something like what we follow. If you wish, go to him, for he follows our way. When he died and was buried, I went to the man in ‘Ammooriyyah and told him my story. He said: Stay with me.

So I stayed with a man who was following the same way as his companions. I earned wealth until I had cows and sheep, then the decree of Allaah came to him. When he was dying I said to him: O So and so, I was with So and so, and So and so told me to go to So and so; then So and so told me to go to So and so; then So and so told me to come to you. To whom do you advise me to go and what do you command me to do? He said: O my son, by Allaah, I do not know of anyone who follows our way to whom I can advise you to go. But there has come the time of a Prophet, who will be sent with the religion of Ibraaheem. He will appear in the land of the Arabs and will migrate to a land between two harrahs (lave fields; land with black rocks), between which there are palm trees. He will have characteristics that will not be hidden. He will eat of what is given as a gift but he will not eat of what is given as charity. Between his shoulder blades is the Seal of Prophethood. If you can go to that land then do so. Then he died and was buried, and I stayed in ‘Ammooriyyah as long as Allaah willed I should stay, then some merchants of Kalb passed by me and I said to them: Will you take me to the land of the Arabs and I will give you these cows and sheep of mine? They said: Yes.

So I gave them the cows and sheep, and they took me there, but when they brought me to Waadi al-Qura they wronged me and sold me as a slave to a Jewish man. When I was with him I saw the palm trees, and I hoped that this was the land that my companion had described to me, but I was not sure. Whilst I was with him, a cousin of his from Banu Qurayzah came to him from Madeenah, and he sold me to him, and he took me to Madeenah.

QuizTime(44) : What was the name of the Jewish woman who embraced Islam & also became a mother of all Believers.

Ans:  Safiyyah bint Huyay ibn Akhtab(r.a)

Must Read:

The Jewish woman who became Muslim was Safiyyah bint Huyay ibn Akhtab, from the Jews of Khaybar, who believed in Allaah as her Lord, Islam as her religion, and Muhammad as her Prophet.

This Jewish woman Safiyyah, who embraced Islam, became a mother for all of us Muslims, as Allaah said in the Qur’aan (interpretation of the meaning): “The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers…” [al-Ahzaab 33:6].

Anas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stayed between Khaybar and Madeenah for three days when he got married to Safiyyah bint Huyay, and invited the Muslims to his waleemah (wedding feast)… The Muslims said, ‘Is she one of the Mothers of the Believers or is she one of those whom his right hand possesses?’ They said, ‘If he covers her, then she is one of the Mothers of the Believers and if he does not cover her, then she is one of those whom his right hand possesses.’ When he got on his camel, he made her ride behind him, and he put a screen between her and the people.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 4762).

Safiyyah (may Allaah be pleased with her) was the one for whom the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came out of seclusion (I’tikaaf) especially to accompany her to her house. (The one who is in seclusion for worship is not allowed to come out except for a valid reason). ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn (may Allaah be pleased with them both) reported that Safiyyah, the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told him that she came to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to visit him whilst he was in I’tikaaf (seclusion) in the mosque, during the last ten days of Ramadaan. She spoke with him for a while, then she wanted to go back to her house, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) got up and took her back… (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 1894)

According to another report: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was in the mosque, and his wives were with him, then they left. He said to Safiyyah bint Huyay, “Don’t rush, I will go with you.” Her home was in the house of Usaamah, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went out with her … (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 1897).

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to take care of her and show compassion towards her. Anas ibn Maalik, the servant of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) described how he took care of his wife Safiyyah on a journey: “I saw the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) spreading his cloak for her to sit on it, then kneeling down and putting his knee for her to step on in order to get onto the camel.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 2081).

Quiz time (43): Which prophet dead body was preserved in a box before He was buried at place as he had requested?

Ans:  Prophet Yusuf (pbuh):

Joseph (pbuh), at the moment of his death, asked his brothers to bury him beside his forefathers if they were to leave Egypt. So when Joseph (pbuh) passed away, he was mummified and placed in a coffin until such a time as he could be taken out of Egypt and buried beside his forefathers, as he had requested. It was said that he died at the age of one hundred ten.

Read the Amazing Hadith:

“ABU Moosa narrated: that once the messenger of Allah was a guest of a desert Arab, who proved to be a generous host. When he was about to leave, the messenger of Allah said ; Come and visit me in Al-Madinah. A few days later that Arab came to meet the messenger of Allah . The messenger of Allah asked him do you want anything ? The Arab replied : yes, I want a she camel with a covered litter and a goat which gives milk. Allah's messenger said: 'Alas had you only asked for something like an old woman belonging to Banu Israil had asked for!' When the companions ra wanted to know about the incident, the messenger of Allah said : When Sayyidna Kalimullah (as) led bani Israil out of Egypt, he forgot the way. He tried a thousand times to find his way, but in vain. He gathered the people and asked them about the reason for this confusion.

The scholars from amongst them replied : When Sayyidna Yusuf (as) time had come to close, he had us promise him to take his coffin along with us when we leave Egypt. Sayyidna Musa (as) then asked whether anyone where his grave was situated, none of the people replied in the affirmative, but thus said that there was a very old woman who knew where he was laid to rest.

So Sayyidina Musa (as) sent someone to her, asking her to show the grave. The old woman said I will show you, but first I will take what is due to me. Sayyidina Musa (as) said what do you want ? She said I want to be your companion in Paradise. This was quite hard for Sayyidina Musa (as), but at that very instance it was revealed to him that he ought to accept that condition. The old woman then took them to a lake and told them to draw its water, the colour of which had changed. They drew the water , and when the bed of the lake became visible, she told them dig here. So they began to dig unto the grave became visible. They took the coffin, then when they resumed their journey they found their way without any difficulty.

When Gabriel had left, Um Salama said, "By Allah, I did not take him for anybody other than him (i.e. Dihya) till I heard the sermon of the Prophet (ï·º) wherein he informed about the news of Gabriel." The subnarrator asked Abu `Uthman: From whom have you heard that? Abu `Uthman said: From Usama bin Zaid.

[Sahih al-Bukhari 4980]

The angels have great powers given to them by Allah, including the following:

The ability to take on different forms. Allah has given the angels the ability to take on forms other than their own. Allah sent Jibreel to Maryam in the form of a man, as Allah says:
". . . Then We sent to her Our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects." [19:17]

Angels also came to Ibrahim in human form, and he did not know that they were angels until they told him so. Similarly, angels came to Lut in the form of young men with beautiful faces. Jibreel used to come to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him) in different forms: sometimes he would appear in the form of Dihyah al-Kalbi, a sahaabee (companion) who was very handsome, and sometimes in the form of a Bedouin. The sahaabah (companions) saw him in his human form, as is reported from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) in the two Saheehs Al-Bukhari and Muslim). (‘Umar) said:

"One day while we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), there appeared before us a man whose clothes were exceedingly white and whose hair was exceedingly black; no signs of travel were to be seen on him, and none of us knew him. He walked up and sat down by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Resting his knees against his and placing his hands on his thighs, he said: ‘O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.’..." [ Muslim].
