QuizTime(100) Who was that Sahabi offered to share half of his property with other Sahabi and ready to divorce one of this wives to get her marry  him ?

Ans:  Sa‘d bin Ar-Rabi(r.a)

The atmosphere of brotherhood and fellow-feeling created a spirit of selflessness infused deeply in the hearts of his followers, and produced very healthy results. For example, Sa‘d bin Ar-Rabi‘, a Helper, said to his fellow brother ‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Awf, “I am the richest man amongst the Helpers. I am glad to share my property half and half with you. I have two wives, I am ready to divorce one and after the expiry of her ‘Iddah, (the prescribed period for a woman divorcee to stay within her house unmarried) you may marry her.” But ‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Awf was not prepared to accept anything:

neither property nor home. So he blessed his brother and said: “Kindly direct me to the market so that I may make my fortune with my own hands.” And he did prosper and got married very shortly by his own labour.

The Helpers were extremely generous to their brethren-in-faith. Abu Hurairah reported that they once approached the Prophet (Peace be upon him) with the request that their orchards of palm trees should be distributed equally between the Muslims of Madinah and their brethren from Makkah.

But theProphet (Peace be upon him) was reluctant to put this heavy burden upon them. It was, however, decided that the Emigrants would work in the orchards alongwith the Helpers and the yield would bedivided equally amongst them.

Such examples point directly to the spirit of sacrifice, altruism and cordiality on the part of the Helpers, and also to the feeling of appreciation, gratitude and self-respect that the Emigrants held dear to their hearts. They took only what helped them eke a reasonable living. In short, this policy of mutual brotherhood was so wise and timely that many obstinate problems were resolved wonderfully and reasonably.

QuizTime(99) Who was that Sahabi chased polytheists until he freed all prophet’s(pbuh) camels from them?

Ans:  SALAMAH IBN AL-AKWA(R.A)

It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Salama. He heard the tradition from his father who said:

“…The Messenger of Allah () sent his camels with his slave, Rabah, and I was with him. I (also) went to the pasture with the horse of Talha along with the camels. When the day dawned, Abd al-Rahman al-Fazari made a raid and drove away all the camels of the Messenger of Allah (), and killed the man who looked after them. I said: Rabah, ride this horse, take it to Talha b. 'Ubaidullah and Inform the Messenger of Allah () that the polytheists have made away with his camels. Then I stood upon a hillock and turning my face to Medina, shouted thrice: Come to our help I Then I set out in pursuit of the raiders, shooting at them with arrows and chanting a (self-eulogatory) verse in the Iambic metre: I am the son of al-Akwa' And today is the day of defeat for the mean.

I would overtake a man from them, shoot at him an arrow which, piercing through the saddle, would reach his shoulder. and I would say: Take it, chanting at the same time the verse And I am the son of al-Akwa' And tody is the day of defeat for the mean. By God, I continued shooting at them and hamstringing their animals. Whenever a horseman turned upon me, I would come to a tree and (hid myself) sitting at its base. Then I would shoot at him and hamstring his horse.

(At last) they entered a narrow mountain gorge. I ascended that mountain and held them at bay throwing stones at them. I continued to chase them in this way until I got all the camels of the Messenger of Allah () released and no camel was left with them. They left me; then I followed them shooting at them (continually) until they dropped more than thirty mantles and thirty lances. lightening their burden. On everything they dropped, I put a mark with the help of (a piece of) stone so that the Messenger of Allah () and his Companions might recognise them (that it was booty left by the enemy).

(They went on) until They came to a narrow valley when so and so, son of Badr al-Fazari joined them. They (now) sat down to take their breakfast and I sat on the top of a tapering rock. Al-Fazari said: Who is that fellow I am seeing? They said: This fellow has harassed us. By God, he has not left us since dusk and has been (continually) shooting at us until he has snatched everything from our hands.

He said: Four of you should make a dash at him (and kill him). (Accordingly), four of them ascended the mountain coming towards me. When it became possible for me to talk to them, I said: Do you recognise me? They said: No. Who are thou? I said: I am Salama, son of al-Akwa'. By the Being Who has honoured the countenance of Muhammad () I can kill any of you I like but none of you will be able to kill me. One of them said: I think (he is right). So they returned. I did not move from my place until I saw the horsemen of the Messenger of Allah (), who came riding through the trees…”

QuizTime(98) Who was that Sahabi, after He was martyred His body raised in the sky and then brought back down?

QuizTime(98) Who was that Sahabi, after He was martyred His body raised in the sky and then brought back down?

Ans: Aamir bin Fuhayrah (R.a).

He was Freed slave of Abu Bakar(r.a). ‘Aamir bin Fuhayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, who witnessed the two Battles of Badr and Uhud and died as a martyr during the Battle of Bi’r Ma‘oonah.

The great Companion, ‘Aamir bin Fuhayrah, may Allah be pleased with him: When the Companions were killed in Bi’r Ma‘oonah and ‘Amr bin Umayyah Adh-Dhamri, may Allah be pleased with him, was captured; ‘Aamir bin At-Tufayl pointed to a killed person and asked, “Who is this?” ‘Amr bin Umayyah, may Allah be pleased with him, said to him, “He is ‘Aamir bin Fuhayrah.”‘Aamir bin At-Tufayl said, “I saw him lifted to the sky after he was killed, such that I saw the sky between him and the earth; then he was brought down upon the earth again.”[Al-Bukhari] Quote End.

“Al-Bukhari also recounted, from Whayd b. Isma'il, from Aba Usama, from Hisham b. Wrwa, who said, "My father told me as follows, 'When the men were killed at Bi’r Ma‘oonah and 'Amr b. Umayya al-Damri was taken prisoner, 'Amir b. al-Tufayl asked the father, pointing to a corpse, "Who is this?" 'Amr replied, "This was 'Amir b. Fuhayra. And after he was killed, I saw him raised up into the sky until I could actually see sky between him and the earth. He was then brought back down." When news of them reached the Prophet (SAAS), he announced their death, saying, "Your comrades have been killed; they asked their Lord, 'O God, inform our brothers about us, and of how we are pleased with You and You are pleased with us."' And so it was that He had informed them (the Prophet (SAAS) and his Companions) about them. On that day Urwa b. Asma b. al-Salt, who was among them, was killed. And Wrwa (b. al-Zubayrz) was named after him, while Mundhir (b. al-Zubayrz) was named after Mundhir b.'Amr (also killed that day)."'

Al-Baybaqi related this from a Hadith of  Yahya h. Sa'id, from Abtl Usama, from Hisham, from his father, from 'A'isha. That account proceeds from the Hijra and relates at its conclusion what is told here by al-Bukhari. But God knows best. Al-Waqidi recounted it from Mus'ab b. Thabit, Abu al-Aswad, from Urwa. He related the story of 'Amir b. Fuhayra, and how 'Amir b. al-Tufayl reported how he was raised up to heaven. His account tells that the person who killed him was Jabbar b. Salma al-Kilabi.

He stated, "And when the man pierced him with the spear, he exclaimed, I have succeeded, by the Lord of the kaaba!' "Then Jabbar asked, 'What did he mean when he said, "I have succeeded?"' People replied, 'He meant with paradise.' And so he then said, 'He was right, by God!' Thereafter Jabbar accepted Islam, for that reason." In the Maghazi, the military chronicle, of Masa b. 'Uqba, Urwa is quoted as saying, “The body of Amir b. Fuhayra was not found; it is said that the angels hid it."(Allah knows the best)

QuizTime(97):  Who was that sahabi Martyred by his own sword when this sword recoiled upon him ?

Ans:  Aamir Ibn Al-Akwa(r.a)

Salamah bin Al-Akwa(r.a) as we discussed about this Sahabi in our last quiz. He never knew deep sorrow and anxiety except when his brother `Aamir Ibn Al-Akwa' died during the Battle of Al- Khaibar.

“…Khaibar knows that I am Marhab (who behaves like) A fully armed, and well-tried warrior. When the war comes spreading its flames. My uncle, Amir, came out to combat with him, saying: Khaibar certainly knows that I am 'Amir, A fully armed veteran who plunges into battles. They exchanged blows. Marbab's sword struck the shield of 'Amir who bent forward to attack his opponent from below, but his sword recoiled upon him and cut the main artery: in his forearm which caused his death. Salama said: I came out and heard some people among the Companions of the Prophet () saying: Amir's deed has been wasted; he has killed himself. So I came to the Prophet () weeping and I said: Messenger of Allah. Amir's deed has been wasted. The Messenger () said: Who passed this remark? I said: Some of your Companions. He said: He who has passed that remark has told a lie, for 'Amir there is a double reward…” [Sahi Muslim Hadith 4450]

Aamir was the one singing in front of the Muslim army:

“Had it not been for You. We would not have been guided, Nor prayed nor given charity. Bless us with tranquility, And let us be strong and firm-hearted when meeting our enemies.”

There is a deviated sect(Kuffars) who have a extreme hate for  “Umar al- Khattab” (r.a)  they fabricated a story, Him(r.a) burying his daughter. The whole fabricated story has been dramatized, to make people emotional, that may cause hate for Umar(r.a), and this story very wide spread amongst the Muslims, we listen in our Jummah Khutba, in our scholars lectures though such story we found nowhere in our Islamic text books.

QuizTime(95): How many gates does Jannah have & do you know any gate name?

QuizTime(95): How many gates does Jannah have & do you know any gate name?

Ans:  Number of Gates are 8 & Names:

We conclude this Fatwa with what Al Munawi said about the gates of Paradise. He said: "The gates of Paradise are eight because the key to Paradise is La Ilaha Illa llah (None deserves to be worshipped except Allah) and this key has eight bits:

(1) Prayer

(2) Fasting

(3) Zakah

(4) Hajj

(5) Jihad

(6) Enjoining the right

(7) Forbidding the evil and bad

(8) Beneficence and tightening of kinship relations.

Names source:  https://www.islamweb.net/en/fatwa/82661/names-of-the-gates-of-heaven

Paradise does not have only one gate, rather it has many gates. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And those who kept their duty to their Lord (Al-Muttaqoon – the pious) will be led to Paradise in groups till when they reach it, and its gates will be opened (before their arrival for their reception) and its keepers will say: Salaamun ‘Alaykum (peace be upon you)! You have done well, so enter here to abide therein”

[al-Zumar 39:73]

There is also evidence narrated in the Sunnah which points to the number of these gates. For example, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “In Paradise there are eight gates, among which is a gate called al-Rayyaan, through which no one will enter except those who fast.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3257; Muslim, 1125. This hadeeth indicates that the number of gates is eight.

Quiz Time (94) which youthful Sahabi left the luxurious life for Islam and who feared lot from his mother?

Quiz Time (94) which youthful Sahabi left the luxurious life for Islam and who feared lot from his mother?

Ans: Mus’ab Ibn Umair (RA).

Musab ibn Umar RA was among the Companions of Prophet Muhammad SAW. He was the flower of the Quraish, the most handsome and youthful. Historians and narrators describe him as ‘The most charming of the Makkans’.

He was born and brought up in wealth, and he grew up with its luxuries. Perhaps there was no boy in Makkah who was pampered by his parents like Mus’ab lbn Umair or Mus’ab the Good, as he was nicknamed among the Muslims. He was one of those made by Islam and fostered by the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

His story is a pride of all mankind. The youth heard one day what the people of Makkah had begun to hear about Muhammad the Truthful, that Allah had sent him as bearer of glad tidings and a warner to call them to the worship of Allah the One God. When Makkah slept and awoke there was no other talk but the Prophet Muhammad SAW and his religion, and this boy was one of the most attentive listeners.

Mus’ab’s mother was Khunaas Bint Malik, and people feared her almost to the point of terror because she possessed a strong personality. When Mus’ab became a Muslim, he was neither careful before nor afraid of anyone on the face of the earth except his mother. Even if Makkah, with all its idols, nobles, and deserts were to challenge him, he would stand up to it. As for a dispute with his mother, this was an impossible horror, so he thought quickly and decided to keep his Islam secret until Allah willed.

So Mus’ab left the great luxury in which he had been living. He became satisfied with a hard life he had never seen before, wearing the roughest clothes, eating one day and going hungry another. This spirit, which was grounded in the strongest faith, adorned with the light of Allah, made him another man, one who appeals to the eyes of other great souls.

The Prophet SAW and his Companions came to inspect the scene of the battle and bid farewell to its martyrs. Pausing at Mus’ab’s body, tears dripped from the Prophet’s eyes. Khabbab lbn Al-Arat narrated: We emigrated with the Prophet SAW for Allah’s cause, so our reward became due with Allah. Some of us passed away without enjoying anything in this life of his reward, and one of them was Mus’ab Ibn Umair, who was martyred on the Day of Uhud. He did not leave behind anything except a sheet of shredded woollen cloth. If we covered his head with it, his feet were uncovered, and if we covered his feet with it, his head was uncovered. The Prophet SAW said to us, ‘Cover his head with it and put lemon grass over his feet.’

QuizTime(93) Who was that Sahabi memorized 17 Surahs in teen age and learned Hebrew language, reads letters for Prophet(pbuh)?

Ans:  Zayd ibn Thabit(r.a)

It was only at the Battle of the Trench when Zayd was about 16 years old that he was at last allowed to bear arms in defence of the Muslim community. Although Zayd was keen to participate in battles, it is not as a warrior that he is remembered. After his rejection for the Badr campaign, he accepted the fact then that he was too young to fight in major battles. His alert mind turned to other fields of service, which had no connection with age and which could bring him closer to the Prophet, peace be upon him. He considered the field of knowledge and in particular of memorising the Qur'an. He mentioned the idea to his mother. She was delighted and immediately made attempts to have his ambition realised. An-Nuwar spoke to some men of the Ansar (inhabitants of Madinah) about the youth's desire and they in turn broached the matter with the Prophet, saying: "O Messenger of Allah, our son Zayd ibn Thabit has memorised 17 surahs (chapters) of the Book of Allah (the Holy Qur'an) and recites them as correctly as they were revealed to you. In addition to that he is good at reading and writing.

It is in this field of service that he desires to be close to you. Listen to him if you will." The Prophet, peace be upon him, listened to Zayd reciting some surahs he had memorised. His recitation was clear and beautiful and his stops and pauses indicated clearly that he understood well what he recited. The Prophet was pleased. Indeed he found that Zayd's ability exceeded the commendation he had been given by his relatives.

The Prophet then set him a task which required intelligence, skill and persistence. "Zayd, learn the writing of the Jews for me," instructed the Prophet. "At your command, Messenger of Allah," replied Zayd who set about learning Hebrew with enthusiasm. He became quite proficient in the language and wrote it for the Prophet when he wanted to communicate with the Jews. Zayd also read and translated from Hebrew when the Jews wrote to the Prophet. The Prophet instructed him to learn Syriac also and this he did.

QuizTime (92) On Which Sahabi request, Prophet summoned Jewish leaders and invited them to join Islam & while he was in another room?

QuizTime (92) On Which Sahabi request, Prophet summoned Jewish leaders and invited them to join Islam & while he was in another room?

Ans: 'Abdullah Ibn Salam(R.a)

Al-Hussein Ibn Salam was one of the scholars of the Jews who lived in Yathrib, (Madeenah). All the people of the town had the greatest respect for him. Everyone, no matter what his religion was, treated him with reverence. He had a high reputation for piety, righteousness, and straightforwardness.

I scrutinized him until I was satisfied, and knew that his was not the face of an untruthful man. I drew closer to him and pronounced the declaration of faith that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Muhammad(Pbuh)then turned to me and asked, "What is your name?" I said quickly, "Al-Hussein ibn Salam." He looked at me and replied, "No, your name will be Abdullah ibn Salam." "Yes, Abdullah Ibn Salam," I responded. "I swear by the one who sent you with the truth, I do not wish to use any other name from this day forward."

Then I returned to the Prophet (pbuh) and said to him, "Messenger of Allah, many of my people prefer lies to the truth. However, I want you to summon their leaders, and to conceal me from them in one of your rooms. Ask their opinion about my character without informing them that I have become Muslim. Then invite them to accept Islam. If they were to know that I have become a Muslim, they would criticize me, accuse me of having every defect, and slander me."

So the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) put me into one of his rooms, summoned them and invited them to join Islam. He made faith appealing to them and reminded them that their scriptures contained prophecies of his coming. They began using specious arguments to make truth seem false, and continued to do so until he despaired of their accepting the faith. At that point he asked them, "What is your evaluation of Al-Hussein Ibn Salam?" They answered, "A chief of ours, and the son of chief of ours. He is an eminent scholar."

The Prophet (pbuh) questioned them further; "Do you think if he accepted Islam that you would also accept Islam? Astound at the thought, they replied, "Allah forbids! He would never do that!" May Allah protect him from that!" So I came out and addressed them, "My people! Fear Allah, and accept what Muhammad has brought to you. I swear by Allah that you know that he is the Messenger of Allah, and that you can find his name and description in the copies of the Torah in your possession. I bear witness that he is the Messenger of Allah. I believe in him and in what he says and I recognize him for what he is." They responded by addressing the Prophet (pbuh) harshly, "You liar! He (Al-Hussein) is a low person, born to a low family.

QuizTime (91) who was that king accepted Islam but denied later because his people rejected Islam & fear to lose his kingdom?

Ans:  Heraclius the king of Byzantium.

The text of the letter of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to Heraclius the king of Byzantium was as follows:

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. From Muhammad the slave and Messenger of Allaah to Heraclius the ruler of Byzantium. Peace be upon those who follow true guidance. I call you with the call of Islam. Become Muslim and you will be safe, and Allaah will grant you a two-fold reward, but if you turn away, upon you will be the sins of the Areesiyyeen (peasants i.e., his followers and subjects who would follow him in kufr).

‘Say (O Muhammad): “O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians): Come to a word that is just between us and you, that we worship none but Allaah (Alone), and that we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allaah. Then, if they turn away, say: “Bear witness that we are Muslims”’

[Aal ‘Imraan 3:64].”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 7; Muslim, 1773.

Ibn al-Qayyim mentions in Zaad al-Ma’aad (3/694) that when Heraclius heard news of the Negus(he king of Abyssinia (Ethiopia) becoming Muslim, he said: “By Allaah, were it not for the sake of holding on to my kingdom, I would have done what he has done.”

Heraclius would have become Muslim, were it not that he feared what his people would do to him. He was afraid that he would lose his kingdom. The same was true of the others, who preferred the life of this world to the Hereafter, so ultimately they were the losers.

Ans: "Banu Hashim"

Muhammad(pbuh) was born around the year 570 CE to the Banu Hashim clan of the Quraysh tribe, one of Mecca’s prominent families.

The Prophet(pbuh), had the most honorable lineage as well as the most perfect morals and characteristics. There are many authentic Hadeeths that describe the honorable lineage of the Prophet (pbuh).  One such Hadeeth is where the Prophet, (pbuh), said:

“Indeed, Allah The Almighty selected Kinaanah from amongst the descendants of Ismaa’eel, and He selected  the Quraysh from amongst Kinaanah, and selected Banu Haashim from amongst the Quraysh, and selected me from the tribe of Banu Hashim.”[Muslim]

Ans: 'Urwah Ibn Mas’ood(May Allah please with him).

The companion who most resembles 'Eesaa (Jesus), may Allaah exalt hi mention, is 'Urwah Ibn Mas’ood(pbuh).  The evidence is the narration reported by Imaams Muslim and At-Tirmithi, that Jaabir(r.a) narrated that the Prophet(Pbuh) said: "I was shown the Prophets in front of me, and Moosaa (pbuh) resembles the men of the tribe of Shanu’ah, and I saw ‘Eesaa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), may Allaah exalt their mention, and the person who resembles him most is ‘Urwah Ibn Mas’ood, and I saw Ibraaheem(Pbuh) and the person who resembles him most is your companion- referring to himself (Pbuh), and I saw Jibreel (the angel Gabriel), and the person who resembles him most is Dihyah."

[Sahih muslim Hadith 423]

Urwah ibn Mas'ud(r.a) was a Thaqif'i chieftain of Taif who became a companion of Muhammad(pbuh). He was one of the first people from his tribe to accept Islam, and he was killed by his fellow chieftains while preaching Islam in his home city. He was one of the notables of Arabia who entered the negotiations regarding the peace of Hudaybiyah on behalf of Quraysh.

QuizTime(88): Who was the first Mu-azzin or caller of Adhan?

Ans is : Bilal Ibn Rabah (RA)

Adhaan became part of the religion when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) confirmed what Allaah had shown the two sahaabis in their dreams, and commanded ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Zayd to teach it to Bilaal so that he could call the people to prayer.

“AbuUmayr reported on the authority of his uncle who was from the Ansar (the helpers of the Prophet): The Prophet () was anxious as to how to gather the people for prayer.

The people told him: Hoist a flag at the time of prayer; when they see it, they will inform one another. But he (the Prophet) did not like it. Then someone mentioned to him the horn.

Ziyad said: A horn of the Jews. He (the Prophet) did not like it. He said: This is the matter of the Jews. Then they mentioned to him the bell of the Christians. He said: This is the matter of the Christians. Abdullah ibn Zayd returned anxiously from there because of the anxiety of the Apostle (). He was then taught the call to prayer in his dream. Next day he came to the Messenger of Allah () and informed him about it. He said: Messenger of Allah, I was between sleep and wakefulness; all of a sudden a newcomer came (to me) and taught me the call to prayer. Umar ibn al-Khattab had also seen it in his dream before, but he kept it hidden for twenty days. The Prophet () said to me (Umar): What did prevent you from saying it to me? He said: Abdullah ibn Zayd had already told you about it before me: hence I was ashamed. Then the Messenger of Allah () said: Bilal, stand up, see what Abdullah ibn Zayd tells you (to do), then do it. Bilal then called them to prayer.

AbuBishr reported on the authority of AbuUmayr: The Ansar thought that if Abdullah ibn Zayd had not been ill on that day, the Messenger of Allah () would have made him mu'adhdhin.
