Verily, the first House (of worship) appointed for mankind was that at Bakkah
(Makkah), full of blessing, and a guidance for Al-`Alamin (mankind and Jinn)
[Qur'an ch 3 Verse 96]
where Bakkah is one of the names of Makkah. Bakkah means, `it brings Buka' (crying, weeping) to the tyrants and arrogant, meaning they cry and become humble in its vicinity. It was also said that Makkah was called Bakkah because people do Buka next to it, meaning they gather around it.
There are many names for Makkah, such as Bakkah, Al-Bayt Al-`Atiq (the Ancient House), Al-Bayt Al-Haram (the Sacred House), Al-Balad Al-Amin (the City of Safety) and Al-Ma'mun (Security). Makkah's names include Umm Rahm (Mother of Mercy), Umm Al-Qura (Mother of the Towns), Salah, (as well as others).
Its mentioned by the name "Umm Al-Qura" which litarelly means "the mother of Towns" twice Qur'an Chapter 06 verse 92 and Chapter 42 verse 7
Its mentioned by the name "Al-Balad Al-Ameen" which litarelly means "the safe town" one time Qur'an Chapter 95 verse 3
Its mentioned by the name "Al-Balad" which means litarelly "the town" three times Qur'an Ch 2-V126 & Ch 14-V35 & Ch 90-V1
Its also mentioned in the Bible.
"Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools.
